We're a winery, not a consultancy: we make wine. But every case of 6 we sell carries a measurable commitment: we measure its footprint with your real address, reduce it across our chain and offset until 100 kg net remain — about 13 times that footprint. Here's the whole methodology, no smoke and mirrors.
We calculate each wine's emissions with a Life-Cycle Assessment (LCA, ISO 14040/44), grouped under the GHG Protocol (Scope 1·2·3): from the vine to your glass. The footprint has a fixed part — production and packaging, constant per bottle — and a variablepart: transport, calculated from your real address at the time of the order.
| Breakdown per bottle (75 cl) | kg CO₂e |
|---|---|
| Production and bottling | 0,55 |
| Glass bottle · 230 g | 0,15 |
| Sugar-cane stopper | 0,00 |
| FSC label | 0,03 |
| Cardboard box (prorated, case of 6) | 0,05 |
| Seal | 0,01 |
| Fixed part · constant per bottle | 0,79 |
| Transport to your door | variable · with your address |
Figures estimated with our own methodology on recognised reference factors; official values are independently audited.
Transport is the only part of the footprint that depends on you, so we don't use zone averages: when you enter your address, we calculate the actual distance from our dispatch point to your door and convert it into kg of CO₂ with recognised factors (GLEC · ISO 14083).
≈ 0.10 kg of CO₂e per tonne-kilometre, with a +30% detour factor over the straight-line distance — trucks don't fly.
≈ 0.016 kg per tonne·km. The Balearic and Canary Islands and overseas destinations add their sea leg to the calculation.
Each bottle shipped weighs ≈ 1.05 kg with packaging. More bottles, more weight, more transport: the calculation reflects it exactly.
In the cart and checkout you see your footprint broken down — fixed, transport and prudence — before confirming. No surprises.
Before offsetting, we assume our footprint is 50% higher than calculated. We'd rather overshoot than fall short: if the calculation were off, the offset covers it easily. We say so clearly on every certificate.
Offsetting is no excuse not to reduce. Glass is the heaviest part of a wine's footprint, and we've pushed it to the limit: our bottle weighs 230 grams — one of the lightest in the world, 62% less than a standard 600 g one. And whatever's unnecessary, gone.
Dry-farmed, low yield, no synthetic chemicals. EU organic certification.
Our own high-altitude vineyards, old bush vines, local hands-on work.
On the considered footprint (already with the +50%) we offset until there remain 100 kg net per case — about 13 times the footprint of a domestic order. Offsetting and reduction are communicated separately: we don't call the product 'neutral' just for offsetting.
Retires verified carbon credits (standards like Verra and Gold Standard) from a diversified portfolio of climate projects. Each offset is genuinely retired, with a serial number and public registry. It's the hard proof of the 100 kg net per case.
We plant a tree per case, in your name, with its species, location and unique URL. It's the gesture you can visit — and an extra we don't count within the 100 kg, so as not to inflate the figure.
Every order generates a certificate with the real emissions, the considered footprint, what was offset and your net contribution — with verifiable references for the retired credits. Anyone can check it with the certificate number, no account and no permission needed.
As a distributor you don't just take the wine: you take its provable sustainability — and you can share it out. Each case carries its 100 net offset kg, and that backing cascades down to your end customer: we certify in a chain, so each of your customers receives their own certificate and their trees, in their name, within your order.
We split the offset by customer: each receives their own, with a verifiable serial number — not an aggregate figure.
The order's trees are assigned to each customer, with their species and URL. You coordinate; they show it off.
If they also carry their label (Made to Measure), you build part of their sustainability policy: their wine, their offset footprint, their certificate.
You register your customers and manage their certificates and access in a chain, frictionlessly — as in the Solera Import case.
All of this, calculated cascading to your end customer and certifiable in a chain from your dashboard.
